How Grassrivers compares with the real Everglades
The Everglades are the slow, shallow “river of grass” that drains south from Lake Okeechobee to Florida Bay. Much of it is protected as Everglades National Park, and around its edges airboat tours like the one in the photo above, at Everglades Holiday Park west of Fort Lauderdale, skim over the sawgrass and lily pads.
Grassrivers is Rockstar's version of that landscape, and the region's own tagline is “Welcome to the Wetlands”. The screenshot shows the same flat, sunlit marsh, cut through with channels of open water, with an alligator in the foreground and boats and a helicopter out in the distance.
Rockstar has made it a lot rougher. Pickups and a police car are tearing straight through the shallows, something you would not get away with in the real Everglades, and the wetland reaches right up to the edges of town. It is the Everglades as a chase scene rather than a nature reserve.
Community matchRockstar has not said which real places it based Grassrivers on. This match comes from The Games Wiki (GTA 6), and the photos show the same kind of view rather than the exact same spot. Every word above is our own.
