How Downtown Vice City compares with the real Brickell
Brickell is Miami's financial district, a dense cluster of glass condo and office towers just south of the Miami River. Seen from the Rickenbacker Causeway, as in the photo above, it rises straight out of Biscayne Bay, with speedboats and jet skis cutting across the water in front.
Rockstar's view of downtown Vice City is shot from almost the same angle: towers stacked along the shoreline, a waterfront promenade, and the bay full of boat wakes. The tall, pale, slightly hazy skyline behind the foreground towers is the most Miami thing in the whole picture.
The pair of towers in front is Rockstar's own. Their rippling, wave-shaped balconies give the shot its character, and we could not match them to one real building. That is typical of how Rockstar works: the skyline as a whole is recognisable, while the individual buildings are reimagined.
Community matchRockstar has not said which real places it based Downtown Vice City on. This match comes from The Games Wiki (GTA 6), and the photos show the same kind of view rather than the exact same spot. Every word above is our own.
