Stealing and selling cars GTA 6 guide

How car theft works in GTA 6: scan cars with WAINK, beat the security tier, outrun trackers and sell to a car fence without a scratch.

Stealing cars is a proper source of income in GTA 6 rather than just a way to get around. The WAINK app on your phone scans a parked car and shows its value, whether it is locked, its alarm and tracker, the tools you need to take it, what a fence will pay and what it would cost to register as your own.

Cars come in security tiers. Older models open with a slim jim, modern luxury cars need key-cloning gear, and some are out of reach until the story gives you the right equipment. Some carry GPS trackers that alert the police, so you either outrun the signal or ditch the car.

Car fences pay less for a damaged car, which makes a clean delivery the real challenge on Vice City's narrow, busy streets. Fences can also point you to valuable cars, including some sitting in police impound lots. Anything you keep can be registered as a personal vehicle, called whenever you need it, and used to carry your weapons and a spare outfit.
