Store robberies GTA 6 guide

Hold up almost any store in Leonida between missions: park a getaway car, crack the safe and get out the back before the police box you in.

Robberies are one of the main things to do between story missions in GTA 6. Rockstar's Rob Nelson said in the August previews that you can rob pretty much anything, so you are not limited to a handful of marked shops. The Extended Look showed Jason and Lucia holding up a gas station and a waffle restaurant.

Each job is a trade between speed and money. A safe can be opened with its combination, which takes time but keeps everything inside intact, or blown open with explosives, which is quicker but damages some of the valuables. Stay too long and the police can surround the building and wait for you, which is why Rockstar suggests parking a getaway car outside before you go in and why so many places have a back exit.

Robbing off-mission matters more than in GTA 5, because the story sometimes waits until you have hit a cash goal. Use the planner to run through each step and log what every job pays, so you can see which stores are worth the heat.

Confirmed by Rockstar

  • You can rob almost any store, not only marked ones
  • Safes open with their combination, or faster with explosives that damage some valuables
  • Police can surround the building and wait for you to come out
  • Many places have a back exit
  • Some story missions wait until you reach a cash goal

Before you go in

  1. Park a getaway vehicle right outside the door
  2. Put on a mask so witnesses and cameras cannot identify your face
  3. Keep a spare outfit in the trunk
  4. Find the back exit before you start

On the job

  1. Choose the safe: find the combination for the full take, or blow it to save time
  2. Watch the clock: the longer you stay, the more likely the police arrive first
  3. If police gather out front, leave by the back

Getting away

  1. Ditch the getaway car if the police have seen it
  2. Change your whole outfit to shake the description
  3. Sell the loot to the right fence
