Wanted level and how to lose the cops GTA 6 guide
GTA 6's wanted level goes up to six stars. How the police find you, what they know about you, and how to lose them.
GTA 6's wanted level runs from one star, which is easy to shake, to six, an all-out manhunt. Police are alerted by witnesses and security systems, and they get a description of you. A meter shows what they know: your face, your outfit and your vehicle. Outlined stars mean they have no visual description yet.
Losing them is about changing what they are looking for. A mask hides your face, including from cameras. A full change of clothes clears the outfit description, while a hat or glasses will not do it, and a new haircut at a barber helps too. Ditching a car they have identified makes their search far less effective.
At three stars and above, Vice City is dangerous to drive through. Rockstar's advice is to get off the streets and into the alleys on foot, where the improved climbing and vaulting help. Crime scenes stay active for a while after you escape, and if one of you is busted the other can still get away.
