03 / How we work it out

The maths

Production businesses make stock at a fixed rate while you are in a session. We take what a full stock sells for, take away what its supplies cost, and divide by how long it takes to fill. Selling takes a few minutes of your time, which the session plan counts.

Safes fill a set amount every in-game day, 48 real minutes, up to a cap. The Nightclub warehouse is worked out from the goods your technicians can make with the businesses you own, after Tony's cut.

Jobs pay what a typical run pays after the game's cuts and costs, divided by how long a run takes a practised solo player, preps included. Cooldowns and weekly limits do not change the hourly figure, but the session plan works around them.

04 / Questions

GTA Online money FAQ

What is the best business per hour in GTA Online?

For money while you play, Cayo Perico Heist from the Kosatka leads at about $624K an hour of play. For passive income, the top three are Cocaine production ($68K), Nightclub safe ($63K), Acid production ($60K), all fully upgraded with bought supplies. Your own best business depends on what you own, which is what the calculator above works out.

What is the best MC business in GTA Online?

The Cocaine Lockup. Fully upgraded, it makes about $68K an hour when you buy supplies and sell to the far buyer. Meth comes second and Document Forgery last. Owning MC businesses also unlocks the best Nightclub goods, so they pay twice if you own a Nightclub.

Is passive income or grinding better?

Both, at the same time. Production businesses and safes earn while you are in a session whatever you are doing, so the best players keep them running and spend their own time on the best job that is off cooldown. The session plan in the calculator does exactly that for the properties you own.

Should I buy supplies or steal them?

Buy them once a business is upgraded: the profit per hour of your time is far higher than doing supply missions. Without upgrades, bought supplies often cost more than the product sells for, so steal them until you can afford the Equipment upgrade. Switch off Buy supplies in the calculator to compare.

Where do these numbers come from?

From community guides and spreadsheets that measure GTA Online payouts in the game, credited at the bottom of this page and on each business page. Rockstar changes payouts in updates and weekly events, so treat them as typical values, not guarantees. Job times are our estimates for a practised solo player: change any of them to match how you play.

Waiting for GTA 6? Its businesses go into the money calculator as soon as players measure them.
